In February this year, Wolf & Bear Collective was honored and proud to be a part of a wonderful initiative, and what was a small donation on our behalf went towards a cause bigger than all of us…
Sally Irwin, the founder of the Freedom Hub, saw that the term slavery had taken on a different meaning in present day Australia and the fact that it still exists ignited her passion to create awareness on the issue and fight the battle to end modern slavery.
Established some years ago, the Freedom Hub runs two cafes, one in Sydney and the other on the Gold Coast. The business and charity fund the ability to give after-care for survivors of slavery and help them assimilate back into society and regain their confidence. This means that 100% of donations go directly to the people that need it most.

Jazz & Cocktails Speakeasy
The night was hosted by another young Sydney based start-up, Ticker Events and was centered around the smooth Jazz sounds of the fabulous Syd’Side Trio, coupled with the taste and aromas of an extensive selection of classy cocktails. With the idea of bringing together like-minded people from all walks of life, the atmosphere sparked enthusiastic conversation and brought about an air of good feeling and generosity.
Picture this, you’re walking towards the Freedom Hub in the buzzing Sydney suburb of Waterloo. The air is warm and you hear the faint sounds of Jazz wafting into your ears. Upon entering the glass door, you are immediately hit with the delicious smells of double chocolate brownies and Espresso Martini’s. The architecture is chic French industrial and the ceiling is adorned with hanging fairy lights giving off a warm glow. The inviting space takes you back to the 1920’s and the mingling attendees all entranced by their own conversations, subconsciously taking in the inspirational sounds of Jazz.
Wolf & Bear Contribution
Part of the night’s initiative was to raise money for this worthy cause, so when Wolf & Bear were invited to attend and have the opportunity to donate some of our products, we were humbled and delighted to share our story and our wares face to face for the very first time.
One of the most rewarding moments of the night was giving the receivers their very own Wolf & Bear t-shirt and to see their genuine excitement and intrigue towards the brand. New friendships were formed with some amazing people and sparked a new sense of motivation towards achieving our own vision of inspiring people to keep the world we live in a beautiful place. Definitely a night we will never forget.
